I am always on the look-out for costumed characters. Not because I am scared of them, but because every year we host a birthday party for our gingerbread man mascot, Yummie, and we invite them to his party. Last year at a local Halloween parade I discovered that the local Chick-fil-A has a mascot. This year, that same mascot received an invite to Yummie’s party…and he/she is attending!
Yummie’s Birthday Party takes place the first Saturday in August. The party itself is only an hour (really, how long can we ask the mascots to dance around & pose for pictures in the hot August sun) from 11am-Noon. We also partner with Schreiber Pediatric to run the Kids Fun Zone which features a bounce house, cookie decorating, face painting, games & more. This area is open from 9am-1pm and has an entrance fee of $5.00 with all proceeds going directly to support Shreiber Pediatric.
Just last week we had a meeting to discuss how the mascots will arrive and how we will surprise Yummie at his party. All I can say is – it is going to be a lot of fun! There will be a large inflatable phone, lots of music, a few confetti cannons and of course, cupcakes. Hey, if it’s a birthday party, some type of cake is needed! If I say more, I might let the cat out of the bag! If you love parties and enjoy posing with costumed characters including: Curious George, Spot the Dog, Filbert the Flamingo, Turkey Hilda, Rufus Rhino, Callie the Cow & the Rowdy Chicken…you should definitely plan to join the fun on August 3rd.
So the search continues for furry faces to delight young & old alike at Yummie’s Birthday Party at Kitchen Kettle Village. Nothing beats the youthful joy of a birthday party. If you make it to the party, say hi to “Party Patty”, I’ll be the one leading the group dances & shooting off a confetti cannon!
